Following flower arrangement class on October 19 and tea ceremony class on October 21, the Japanese Language Support Group held an origami class that they had not had for a long time due to COVID–19.
Two members of the origami team, Shin and Kozue taught how to fold cranes, assigned works on that day by Zoom. It was the first time for them to teach remotely, and they chose three types of origami cranes that were easy to fold and explain. At normal face–to–face class, if a participant has difficulty, instructors can assist him or her physically, but Shin and Kozue could not do so remotely. So Shin prepared an additional camera to show a close–up of his hands so that the participants could take a look at his hands and follow him.
All the participants were fluent in Japanese and half of them had experience in making origami. In about an hour they completed the three cranes. At the end, the participants held the works in their hands and took a commemorative photo. With just a piece of paper, you can easily enjoy origami anywhere. Shin and Kozue hope that the participants will continue to enjoy origami.
