Onnazaka Trail⇒Oyama-dera Temple⇒Afuri Shrine Shimosha⇒Miharashi-dai Viewpoint⇒Johotsuganji Temple ⇒Hinata Yakushi Temple
Climbing up to Afuri Shrine and going on a longer hike to Hinata Yakushi Temple via Miharashi-dai Viewpoint.
The route from Koma Sando to Miharashi-dai Viewpoint is the same as O-1.
Let’s climb up the stairway to Afuri Shrine. From there you can see a splendid view awarded 2 stars in Michelin Guide. Surrounded with the sounds of streams and waterfalls, hikers or visitors can enjoy the breezes from the trees and feel the fresh air of Mt Oyama. You hike further on to Hinata Yakushi Temple, where you will meet the healing Buddha and flowers in season. The trail to Hinata Yakushi Temple is not so steep as Onnazaka. Let’s enjoy hiking and a scenic view.
This tour starts from ISEHARA STATION on the Odakyu Line (OH36).
The hiking starts from Oyama Cable Car Bus Stop.
1)Koma Sando
Pilgrims’ inns, restaurants and traditional souvenir shops are on both sides of Koma Sando (362 steps).
2) Onnazaka Trail
3) Oyama-dera Temple
Oyama-dera Temple was originally founded by the famous priest Roben in 755. The present temple is renowned for the beautiful scenery in the seasons of the fresh green and the colors.
4) Afuri Shrine Shimosha
Afuri Shrine Shimosha is located about 700 meters above sea level, offering spring water and a splendid view.
5) Miharashi-dai Viewpoint
Miharashi-dai Viewpoint is less than an hour walk from Afuri Shrine Shimosha via Nijuu Falls, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Sagami Plain.
6) Kuju-ku Magari Winding Path
↑ (Johotsuganji Temple)
From Miharashi-dai Viewpoint, you will descend Kuju-ku Magari winding path to Hinata Area, where you will find several temples like Sekiunji Temple and Johotsuganji Temple on the way to Hinata Yakushi Temple
7) Hinata Yakushi Temple
The goal of a long hike is Hinata Yakushi Temple. Founded in more than 1300 years ago, this temple is one of the most important temples dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, the healing Buddha in Japan
Please note that the tour may be canceled in advance if a good chance (such as more than 40% ) of rain or any bad weather is anticipated during the day of the tour.
