A man from Liaoning who invited his mother to Japan asked us to take her on a two-day tour of Yokohama. I met them before he went to work and showed his mother around from 8:45 am to 6:00 pm. We took the bus to Sankeien Garden, where we had a leisurely stroll enjoying the autumnal colors. We then had lunch in the garden itself at Taishunken. She is an excellent walker who treks across mountains with her husband every week. When we had coffee in Motomachi Shopping Street, I gave her a Washi Ningyo, a handmade paper doll. We also visited a few Chinese supermarkets to buy beans for the Chinese New Year. We then walked through Yokohama Park to Kannai Station at which the son and I were to meet.
I was tired and felt a little pain in the calf: according to the pedometer, I had taken more than twenty thousand steps!
