Soon after accepting the request from the family for a guide, we started communicating with each other. They rented a place through Airbnb near Yuigahama Beach for August 6. As they intended to proceed on to Nikko, I recommended them to stay in Tokyo instead which was closer. But they could not cancel their reservation. At Kamakura, they enjoyed a Bonbon Matsuri (festival). As Matteo, the 8-year-old son, was lactose intolerant, I made sure beforehand that there would be a place where he could have lunch. I also checked on Mameshiba Café (a café where customers can play with dogs) on the busy shopping street of Komachidori as I was worried that Matteo would be bored seeing temples and shrines, but this proved to be groundless.
He was sensible, mature, and quite like the angelic boy in New Cinema Paradise or The Railroad Man. He even said “Kamakura is so beautiful, I like it”! I wish them a safe and happy journey through Japan!
