At the request of Yokohama India Centre, we guided 24 students and 2 teachers who were on an overseas study program sponsored by the State of Tamil Nadu, India, and a professor at Yokohama National University who was supporting them. The participants were divided into 2 groups. We explained to them how Yokohama evolved from a newly-opened seaport to today’s modern city, and how the industrial structure of Yokohama changed until the Minato-Mirai area was developed.
As it was so hot, they drank water and took a rest in the shade in Yamashita Park. The tour was a little bit behind schedule. After cooling off in an air conditioned room in the Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal, they headed to India Water Tower in Yamashita Park. The students seemed to be tired due to jetlag and different environment. Majoring in chemistry, biotechnology, and information science, they were refined and intelligent. They enjoyed the guided tour so much.
