After meeting at Motomachi-Chukagai Station, we moved to Yokohama History Museum by train. The Kabuki class (duration 1.5 hours) was a part of Japanese culture studies organized by the museum and Tsuzuki Ward Office. This class was composed of two sessions: the first session was a lecture of basic information about Kabuki (Tachimawari or fighting movement, Tsuke or clappers, Onnagata syosa or woman’s movement, and Kabuki makeup) with demonstration; the second session was the performance of famous Kabuki dancing. We helped the visitors enjoy the Kabuki performance by interpreting it into English because the lectureand the performance were held only in Japanese. As this Kabuki Class was provided for beginners, it was very easy to understand and thus all of the participants enjoyed it. The Kabuki dancing on the stage i the second session was extremely gorgeous, so they gazed at it intently and took a lot of photos. All of them seemed to be fully satisfied with the performance. I believe they got interested in Kabuki through this class. At the end of the class, we took a group photo with the Kabuki dancers, which has become a valuable memory for us.
